– Ernestine Shepherd
Staying active and independent in your golden years through regular functional resistance training is important to live a happy and healthy life. Some benefits of developing a base level of functional strength for seniors includes:
- Maintaining strong and mobile joints
- Increasing bone density resulting in stronger bones and reduces risk of fractures resulting from falls
- Increase health span and longevity
- Prevention of sarcopenia (muscle loss with age)
- Better management of glucose levels
- Prevention of cognitive decline
- Improved balance, co-ordination and mobility
When it comes to strength and mobility use it or lose it holds true. Keeping this in mind, we encourage senior clients to include 2-4 sessions of regular functional resistance training into their weekly routine.
Good movement mechanics is our bread and butter. We ensure our senior clients are safe, comfortable and feel confident while training. Through spending sufficient time in understanding our clients history and any pre-conditions, we help clients rehab any existing injuries and mobility limitations while helping them build a strong and mobile body.
