Youth TRAINING
The secret to raising active kids is to be active parents. they are sponges.
lead by example.
Old habits die hard so it’s prudent to cement good old habits early. We work with young adults to develop a solid physiological foundation through following the principles of general physical preparedness (GPP) training.
The concept of GPP training comes from Soviet Union and Eastern Europe where children between the ages of 4 and 7 would take part in building a strong foundation for 3 years before focusing on sport specific specialisation. Specialising in sport specific skills too early comes with the risk of:
- young athletes being injured and burned out by teenage years
- developing poor posture and muscle bias and imbalances due to lack of a sound fitness and strength base
- teenagers unable to refine their specialised sport skills as they lack the awareness of how to safely and fully engage muscle fibres on demand in sport specific scenarios therefore lack power, speed, agility, co-ordination or general motor skills
- frustration in teen athletes when they are trying to cram basics that take years to build in a few short months /off season
GPP is also great for curbing childhood obesity and ensuring children develop a positive relationship with sport and athletics. GPP ensures children feel physically empowered and are confident in their ability to grasp and advance physical skills.
